Dogwoods Days at the Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum is the annual celebration of the legacy of Polly Wakefield’s collection of over 300 dogwood trees in full bloom. Dogwood Days 2023 features diverse events designed to showcase the spectacular late-spring blooms and appeal to all ages.
The arboretum is open to visitors every day during Dogwood Days - $5 entrance fee. For special events where tickets and/or membership required, there is a link for more information and to purchase a ticket or membership. Below is a daily schedule and brief summary of the events planned during Dogwood Days.

Family Day- Join us for a self guided scavenger hunt, lawn games and visits with the animals.

• Plant Sale (Trees and plants available include several associated with our collection such as kousa dogwoods, Japanese maples, Paperbark maples, Silver maples, Burr oak, Bitternut Hickory, European ginger, Mayapples, Petasites, and more.)

Polly Wakefield patented 7 very special kousa dogwoods during her life-time. She monitored her collection closely looking for unique features including bark, leaf shape, color and flowers (called bracts). She then patented these unique plants which are still available in nurseries today. Arboretum director Debbie Merriam will discuss Polly's work while taking a stroll through the collection to look at some of these unique features.
