High School Archaeologists Dig In!

On Monday, June 20th, we launched our High School Archaeology Institute for the third year. There are two 2-week sessions of this hands-on course, taught by doctoral candidates in Boston University's renown archaeological program. The institute is open to students in or entering high school, as well as college freshman. There is still room in session 2 which will begin on July 5th and run through July 15th. 2nd Annual Dogwood Days Set for June 4 and 11

The schedule is set for the estate's Second Annual Dogwood Days! This year Dogwood Days will be held on consecutive Saturdays, June 4 and June 11, between 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm. Join us for a stroll about the estate during our annual celebration of Polly Wakefield's amazing kousa dogwoods in bloom!The grounds will be open for self-guided walks around the formal gardens with hundreds of kousa dogwoods at their peak (hopefully) bloom. A guided tour will be offer both days at 1:00 pm, rain or shine.

Just as the bright yellow blooms of the forsythia and cornus mas are the first true harbingers of spring, so too is the bright yellow bus arriving at the end of the lane full of young people ready to get out to learn about science! Today, thirty-one 5th graders from the Charles Taylor School made the first all-day field trip this spring and spent time studying decomposers, life cycles, and ecosystems. They also got to meet our new chicks and Sesame the rooster, a cochin variety that is so docile many of the children took turns holding him.
Spring Floral Demo to be held April 13th

If you've had enough of winter and are impatient for convincing signs that spring is here, join us for our spring floral decoration demonstration. Cedar Grove Gardens' floral designer extraordinaire Lisa Ahern, will show how to create simple but dazzling decorations to brighten up your home and holiday table using spring flowers, bulbs and kitchen garden plants. Those attending will leave with lots of great ideas and have a chance to win a raffle of some items created during the session. The session will run from 6:30 until 8:30. Space is limited so please pre-register by calling 617-333-0924. Suggested donation is $15.
